INSPECTION
PROCEDURE E-2: Keyless entry hazard warning lamp answerback function or the room lamp answerback
function does not work normally. |

|  CAUTION
Whenever the ECU is replaced,
ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
|

| COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the hazard warning lamp and the room lamp work normally, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
Alternatively, it is possible that "KEYLESS (HAZD)" was set to "W/O FUNCTION"
by using the adjustment function.

| POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Defective turn-signal lamp
- Malfunction of the room lamp
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
- Damaged harness wires and connectors

| Step 1. Check the operation of the hazard warning lamp.
Check that the hazard warning lamps illuminate normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
Go to Step 2  .
NO:
Refer to inspection procedure L-2 "The hazard warning lamps do not illuminate  ".

| Step 2. Check the operation of the dome lamps.
Check that the dome lamps illuminate normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
Go to Step 3  .
NO:
Refer to inspection procedure N-1 "The front and rear room lamp does not illuminate/extinguish  ."

| Step 3. Check the SWS monitor customized function.
Use the SWS monitor customize function to confirm that "KEYLESS (HAZD)" is set to other
than "W/O FUNCTION".
 CAUTION
The SWS monitor must be used in order to confirm and change
that setting. Use the SWS monitor to confirm and/or change the customized function.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
Go to Step 4.
NO:
Use the SWS monitor customize function to se the "KEYLESS (HAZD)" to other than
"W/O FUNCTION" (Refer to GROUP 54C -
Adjustment function  ).

| Step 4. Retest the system.
Check that the keyless entry hazard warning lamp answerback function or the room lamp
answerback function work normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 -
How
to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction  ).
NO:
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
