SECURITY-ALARM SYSTEM
INSPECTION PROCEDURE O-1: The security alarm is not armed (the security alarm indicator lamp does not illuminate).
 CAUTION
Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the security alarm does not work normally, the input signal circuits to the components below and security alarm indicator lamp or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
  • Keyless entry transmitter
  • Key reminder switch
  • Ignition switch (ACC)
In addition, it is possible that the security alarm function has been disabled by using the adjustment function.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the security alarm indicator lamp
  • Malfunction of the keyless entry transmitter
  • Malfunction of the key reminder switch
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
Step 3. Pulse check
Check the input signals which are related to the security alarm.
System switch
Check conditions
Ignition switch (ACC)
When turned from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ACC position
Key reminder switch
When the inserted ignition key is pulled out
Keyless entry transmitter switch
When the switch is turned from off to on

OK: The MUT-II/III sounds or the voltmeter needle fluctuates.
Q: Are the check result normal?
All the signals are received normally.:  Go to Step 4
.
The ignition switch (ACC) signal is not received.:  Refer to Inspection Procedure P-1 "The ignition switch (ACC) signal is not received." .
The key reminder switch signal is not received.:  Refer to inspection procedure P-10 "The key reminder switch signal is not received ."
The keyless entry transmitter switch signal is not received.:  Refer to Inspection Procedure P-16 "Each switch signal of the keyless entry transmitter is not received."
