INSPECTION PROCEDURE E-4: Multimode keyless entry system function does not work at all.

CAUTION

Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the power windows, the sunroof and the electric-folding door mirrors work normally, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
Alternatively, it is possible that "KEYLESS (P/W)" and "WING MIRROR" were set to "W/O FUNCTION" by using the adjustment function.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

Malfunction of the keyless entry transmitter

Malfunction of the power window main switch

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step 1. Check the keyless entry transmitter.

Check that the keyless entry system works normally.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: Go to Step 2

NO: Refer to inspection procedure E-1 "Keyless entry system does not work

Step 2. Pulse check

Check the input signals which are related to the multimode keyless entry system.

System switch	Check conditions
Power window main switch	When the switch is turned from off to on
Keyless entry transmitter switch	When the switch is turned from off to on

OK: The MUT-II/III sounds or the voltmeter needle fluctuates.

Q: Are the check result normal?

All the signals are received normally.: Go to Step 3

The power main switch signal is not received.: Refer to inspection procedure P-8 "When the power window main switch is operated, the switch signals are not received

."
The keyless entry transmitter switch signal is not received.: Refer to inspection procedure P-16 "Each switch signal of the keyless entry transmitter is not received

Step 3. Check the SWS monitor customized function.

Use the SWS monitor customize function to confirm that "KEYLESS (P/W)" is set to other than "W/O FUNCTION".

CAUTION

The SWS monitor must be used in order to confirm and change that setting. Use the SWS monitor to confirm and/or change the customized function.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: Go to Step 4

NO: Use the SWS monitor customize function to se the "KEYLESS (P/W)" to other than "W/O FUNCTION" (Refer to GROUP 54C - Adjustment function

Step 4. Check the SWS monitor customized function.

Use the SWS monitor customize function to confirm that "WING MIRROR" is set to other than "W/O FUNCTION".

CAUTION

The SWS monitor must be used in order to confirm and change that setting. Use the SWS monitor to confirm and/or change the customized function.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: Go to Step 5

NO: Use the SWS monitor customize function to se the "WING MIRROR" to other than "W/O FUNCTION" (Refer to GROUP 54C - Adjustment function

Step 5. Retest the system.

Check that the multimode keyless entry system works normally.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction

).
NO: Replace the ETACS-ECU.
