INSPECTION PROCEDURE E-5: The power windows do not work normally by means of the multimode keyless entry function.
 CAUTION
 Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the power windows do not work by means of the multimode keyless entry system, the input signal circuits to the power window main switch or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Malfunction of the power window main switch
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
Step 1. Confirm the operation of the power windows.
Check that the power windows work normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:  Go to Step 2.
NO:  Refer to Inspection Procedure D-1 "Power windows do not work at all ."
Step 2. Pulse check
Check the input signals which are related to the power windows operated by the multimode keyless entry system.
System switch
 Check conditions
Power window main switch
 When the switch is turned from off to on

OK: The MUT-II/III sounds or the voltmeter needle fluctuates.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:  Go to Step 3.
NO:  Refer to inspection procedure P-8 "When the power window main switch is operated, the switch signals are not received ."
Step 3. Retest the system.
Check that the power windows operate by means of the multimode keyless entry system.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:  The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
NO:  Replace the ETACS-ECU.
