Procedure K-7: The wiper-linked auto lamp function does not work normally. |

|  CAUTION
Whenever the ECU is replaced,
ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
|

| COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If this function does not work normally, the input signal circuit(s) below or the ETACS-ECU
may be defective.
- Automatic lighting switch
|
| POSSIBLE CAUSES
- The lighting switch is defective
- The windshield wiper switch is defective.
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
- Damaged harness wires and connectors

| Step 1. Check the operation of the windshield wipers.
Check that the windshield wipers work normally by operating the relevant switches.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
Go to Step 2  .
NO:
Refer to inspection procedure G-4 "The windshield wipers do not work normally  .

| Step 2. Checking auto lamp operation
Check that the auto lamp function works normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
Go to Step 3  .
NO:
Refer to Inspection Procedure K-6 "The auto lamp function does not work normally  ."

| Step 3. Customize function by using the SWS monitor
Use the SWS monitor customize function to confirm that "WIPR-LINK H/L" is set
to "W.FUNCTION."
 CAUTION
The SWS monitor must be used in order to confirm and change
that setting. Use the SWS monitor to confirm and/or change the customized function.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
Go to Step 4  .
NO:
Use the SWS monitor customize function to set "WIPR-LINK H/L" to "W.FUNCTION"
(Refer to GROUP 54C -
Adjustment function  ).

| Step 4. Retest the system.
Check that the wiper-linked auto-lamp function works normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES:
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 -
How
to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction  ).
NO:
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
