INSPECTION PROCEDURE E-4: Multimode Keyless entry system function does not work at all.

CAUTION

Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the power windows, the sunroof and the electric-folding door mirrors work normally, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
Alternatively, it is possible that "KEYLESS (P/W)" and "WING MIRROR" were set to "W/O FUNCTION" by using the adjustment function.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

Malfunction of the keyless entry transmitter

Malfunction of the power window main switch

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step 1. Check the keyless entry transmitter.

Check that the keyless entry system works normally.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: Go to Step 2

NO: Refer to inspection procedure E-1 "Keyless entry system does not work

Step 2. Check the adjustment function.

Check that "KEYLESS (P/W)" is set to "OPEN/CLOSE" or "CLOSE" by using the adjustment function.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: Go to Step 3

Step 3. Check the adjustment function.

Check that the "WING MIRROR" is set to "KEYLESS LINK" by using the adjustment function.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: Go to Step 4

NO: Set the "WING MIRROR" to "KEYLESS LINK" by using the adjustment function.(Refer to

Step 4. ECU check on the SWS monitor

Check that the power supply and earth lines to the ETACS-ECU and the power window main switch (power window module) and the SWS communication lines are normal.

Ignition switch: OFF

Operate the multimode function with the keyless entry transmitter.

OK: "OK" are displayed for all the items

Q: Is the check result normal?

"OK" are displayed for all the items: Go to Step 5

"NG" is displayed on the "P/W MODULE" menu.: Refer to Inspection Procedure A-5 "Communication with the power window main switch (power window module) is not possible

Step 5. Use the SWS monitor to examine the keyless entry system for signal reception.

Check the condition of the keyless entry transmitter.

Step 6. Confirm communication data by using the SWS monitor.

Step 7. Retest the system.

Check that the multimode keyless entry system works normally.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction

).
NO: Replace the power window main switch.
