INSPECTION PROCEDURE E-6: The sunroof does not close normally by means of the multimode keyless entry function.

CAUTION

Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the sunroof work normally, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

NOTE: For item No. 72 S/R ECU ACK, the display will change from "NORMAL ACK" to "SLEEP ACK" in approximately 30 seconds after the multimode operation is completed.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

Malfunction of the sunroof motor assembly

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step 1. Check the operation of the sunroof.

Q: Does the sunroof work normally?

YES: Go to Step 2

NO: Refer to Inspection Procedure F-1 "Sunroof does not work at all

Step 2. ECU check on the SWS monitor

Check that the power supply and earth lines to the ETACS-ECU and the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) and the SWS communication lines are normal.

Ignition switch: OFF

Operate the multimode function with the keyless entry transmitter.

OK: "OK" are displayed for all the items

Q: Are the check result normal?

"OK" are displayed for all the items: Go to Step 3

"NG" is displayed on the "ETACS ECU" menu: Refer to Inspection Procedure A-3 "Communication with the ETACS-ECU is not possible

."
"NG" is displayed on the "sunroof-ECU" menu: Refer to Inspection Procedure A-6 "Communication with the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) is not possible

Step 3. Function diagnosis by using the SWS monitor

Check the SWS communication signal, which are related to the multimode keyless entry system.

Ignition switch: OFF

Operate the multimode function with the keyless entry transmitter.
