The automatic transmissions have four types; W4A4B for 4G69 engine vehicles, W4A42 for 4G64 engine vehicles, F4A42 and W5A51 for 4G63 engine vehicles. Each transmission has the following features.

• The F4A42 transmission is basically the same as that adopted for the COLT/LANCER.

• The W4A42 transmission is based on the F4A42 transmission, however, the transfer case is added in order to be installed to 4WD vehicles.

• Although W4A4B transmission is basically the same as W4A42 type, the gear ratio at 2nd, 4th and reverse, and electronic control system have been changed.

• The W5A51 transmission is based on the F5A42 transmission adopted for FTO, however, the number of discs of the brake and clutch is increased, allowing to increase the torque capacity. In addition to the above, the transfer case is added in order to be installed to 4WD vehicles.

For the vehicles with the W5A51 transmission, the steering shift switch and downshift inhibition buzzer are added.
