OPERATION
  • Refer to Code No. P0122: Throttle Position Sensor (main) Circuit Low Input .
  • Refer to Code No. P0222: Throttle Position Sensor (sub) Circuit Low Input .
FUNCTION
  • Engine-A/T-ECU checks the throttle position sensor output signal characteristics for abnormal conditions.
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Conditions
  • Ignition switch is in "ON" position.
  • Throttle position sensor (main) output voltage is 0.35 - 2.5 V. <Vehicles for Hong kong>
  • Throttle position sensor (main) output voltage is 0.2 - 4.8 V. <Vehicles except for Hong kong>
  • Throttle position sensor (sub) output voltage is 2.25 - 4.8 V. <Vehicles for Hong kong>
  • Throttle position sensor (sub) output voltage is 0.2 - 4.8 V. <Vehicles except for Hong kong>
Judgment Criteria
  • Using the formula given below, the voltage of 0.3 V or higher is obtained for 0.5 second: V*- V**- 2 V
V*: throttle position sensor (main) output voltage
V**: throttle position sensor (sub) output voltage. <Vehicles for Hong kong>
  • Voltage obtained with the formula given below is 0.3 V or higher for 0.5 second: throttle position sensor (main) output voltage -[throttle position sensor (sub) output voltage - 2 V]. <Vehicles except for Hong kong>
  • Throttle position sensor (main) output voltage is 2.5 V or higher for 0.5 second. <Vehicles except for Hong kong>
or
  • Throttle position sensor (sub) output voltage is 4.2 V or less for 0.5 second. <Vehicles except for Hong kong>
  • Throttle position sensor (main) output voltage 2.5 V or higher for 0.5 second. <Vehicles except for Hong kong>
PROBABLE CAUSE
  • Failed throttle position sensor
  • Open/short circuit in throttle position sensor circuit or loose connector contact
